Good places to collect
- Charity offices or reception points.
- Community events.
- Volunteer hubs.
- Partner businesses, where agreed.
- Supporter mailings and newsletters that direct people to a collection point.
Explain what you accept
The current Coins for Change site says foreign coins and notes from virtually any country are accepted and mixed currencies are fine. It excludes UK copper coins and currently allows UK 5p-and-higher coins as top-up.
Avoid open-ended collections
A defined campaign period makes it easier to promote, close and report. If you want a recurring programme, run several named collection windows during the year rather than leaving an unmonitored container indefinitely.
Use supporter stories carefully
When you have a verified result, publish the amount, period and campaign context with permission. Do not present forecast figures as achieved fundraising.
