How Coins for Change Works

The campaign is designed to turn mixed leftover foreign currency into a simple organisation-led fundraiser. Here is the current process in plain English.

1. Request the collection kit

Use the main site request form to register your organisation. The current homepage describes the kit, delivery and campaign materials as free to the participating organisation.

2. Launch the campaign

Put the collection point somewhere visible, use the posters and digital e-flyer, and give supporters a clear closing date. The current site says most campaigns run for around two to four weeks.

3. Collect mixed currency

The current accepted-currency guidance allows foreign coins and notes from virtually any country and says mixed currencies are fine. It also currently allows UK coins of 5p or higher to top up a collection, excluding 1p and 2p copper coins.

4. Close, collect and report

Follow the live collection instructions when the campaign ends. The homepage promises transparent reporting and payment to the organisation. Timing statements on the homepage currently vary between sections, so the live confirmation provided with your campaign should be treated as the operational source of truth.
